About Richard Chubb – Travel Photography & Writing

Hi, I’m Richard – a traveler, photographer, and storyteller with an endless curiosity for the world beyond the horizon.

Landscape Photographer, Landscape Photography

For me, the greatest adventures begin with the turn of a key and the hum of an engine. Road trips have always been my favorite way to travel – the freedom of the open road, the landscapes unfolding mile by mile, and the promise of discovering something new just around the bend. Every journey is a chance to chase the unexpected and find beauty where few think to look.

Photography is how I hold onto those moments. I’ve spent years capturing the speed and intensity of sports and events, but my heart has always pulled me toward the quiet magic of travel photography. Through my lens, I want to tell the story of a place – the light at dawn, the details others might pass by, the emotions that can’t be put into words.

But not every path can be reached on wheels. That’s where hiking comes in. Trails lead me deeper into the wild, to hidden views and places only footsteps can uncover. Hiking is my way of connecting more deeply with the world – a rhythm of movement that brings clarity, fitness, and awe in equal measure. Or at least, that is what I hope.

You see, as the years go on, and I find myself the wrong side of 50, I see hiking as a great way to combine my love of travel and photography with the one thing I am not a fan of….exercise!

Beyond the images, I believe travel is as much about the stories as it is the sights. I write to capture the spirit of each journey – the people I meet, the history under my feet, the unexpected moments that transform an ordinary trip into an unforgettable adventure. And sometimes, words and pictures aren’t enough. That’s why I occasionally share videos from the road, where you can hear the crunch of gravel, the rush of wind, or the laughter of new friends along the way.
