What the episode about?
Welcome back to the show! This weeks podcast episode is all about much acclaimed Fuji X100VI.
Other than a half hearted attempt at using a Sony A6300 in 2017, I have been a Canon user for 17 years. I get shots I am happy with. The auto focus has always been good, the menus are easy to navigate, and ergonomically, they feel great in the hand.
I decided to try something different for a few reasons.
I’m recording this episode because I suspect others might be grappling with an internal debate, much like I am. But also, and more importantly, is the Fuji X100VI a worthy travel camera.
I have broken this podcast episode down into a few chapters:
- My camera history, and why I wanted to try something else
- Why I chose the Fuji X100VI
- Why I like it
- Why it is not perfect
- How I decide what camera to take with me
I want you to know that these are my thoughts and comments, and my experience of using the camera over the past couple of months influences them only.
Examples of where the Fuji didn’t or wouldn’t quite work
The below are some of the examples I may have discussed in the Podcast
Cropping – Fixed Focal length could get the composition without a zoom
Here are examples of where Cropping was needed as I couldn’t adjust focal length. I could move as the seawall was directly infant of me.

Lens Compression
I didn’t have the Fuji at the time this photo was taken, but had I, then this photo on the right would have been harder to get.
