Finding Colour on a Grey Day – From Doubt to Success
Welcome to this week’s Episode of Stories Through the Shutter the podcast all about Travel and Photography. In this week’s episode, I am wandering around Keyhaven Marina. My mission was simple, ‘Finding Colour on a Grey Day’: To find bursts of colour amidst the muted tones of the gloomiest skies.
This trip reminded me of a previous episode. The ones where I talk about slowing down, taking time, and looking around you.

Finding Colour on a Grey Day: The reason for the trip
It had been a while since I had been out with the camera, so a trip was definitely overdue! Work and the such definitely gets in the way, and I knew it was up to me to change that. That March morning, I woke to overcast skies and a looming chance of rain but I was desperate to go out. So armed with my trusty Fuji X100VI, I decided to embrace the day, regardless of the weather.
I had no expectations of capturing stunning landscapes; rather, my goal was to explore the marina’s vibrant elements and to see how they would stand out against the dreariness.
The morning was a time of transition. From eagerness, to confusion, to renewed optimism, to satisfaction. It started with lots of optimism, but after wandering around, taking a few photos, I seemed to lose my way.
After a reset back at the van, I went out again, remembering my mantra from previous podcasts. Slow down. Look around.
Then, things changed, and I managed to capture some images I really liked. Below are a few of my favourites, and enjoy this episode.
